Pony for sale

Songlands Mr Sandman is a 6 year old Connemara Gelding who we have owned for the last 5 years, purchasing him directly from his breeder. He was broken in by Cherie Cournane as a 3 year old in November 2022.
We have made the very difficult decision to put Sandy on the market as my daughter has grown like a mushroom and will be moving onto hacks this summer.
Sandy is the ultimate all round Pony Club pony. He has been attending rallies for the last 2.5years, he has Evented up to 65cm with places (but schooled easily over 80cm). Competitively showjumping to 75cm and was part of the winning team at the recent OSPC SJ Champs (coming 1st x 2 & 2nd in his 65cm classes). He has attended Zones in a Games team and has hunted 1 season with Birchwood Hunt, being awarded Novice Hunter Pony of the Season. We believe he would be excellent Show Hunter prospect.
We live on a sheep & beef property, so he has lots of experience around stock, machinery and dogs. He loves hacking out on the farm. We have made sure we have given Sandy lots of variety of work, positive experiences with regular spells to grow and mature.
Sandy is currently shod on his front feet, but until recently he was barefoot. He could easily go back to barefoot. He is good for the farrier. He is easy to worm and clip. He is getting better when washing him down & preparing him for shows/events.
As Sandy is still relatively young he isn't yet a bombproof pony, he is a Connemara so will need clear boundaries and good leadership. This is easily achieved by good ground work & horsemanship. Sandy is a good doer! We monitor his food intake, but on old fashioned grass most of the year supplemented with hay & Elite Equine or Calm Healthy Horse products.
Sandy is a universally loved pony by all who meet him, we are in no hurry to sell him as we are keen to make sure we get the right match. He will continue to be competed throughout December, at Southland SJ and Eventing Southland's ODE at Ryal Bush.
