Only for sale as her rider has got too big, otherwise she would stay with us forever!
We have owned Snickers for nearly 4 years and in this time she has taken my daughter from trotting over poles to competing at HOY in Cat A Show Hunter & hunting full wire. She started riding her when she was 8 years old and now she is 12 and well and truly outgrown her (for reference my daughter is over 160cm tall).
Multiple wins & placings, including Champions & Reserve Champions at Cat A SH, including 5th overall in Cat A at NZPC Show hunter champs in Foxton, 2024 and the overall winner of the Wanganui Winter SH series 2024. Is very consistent in her show hunter rounds.
Loves to show jump, we have only show jumped her up to 70cm and very rarely as she has always been doing SH but with a smaller rider would SJ higher.
Has only done one ODE where she finished 4th overall with double clear jumping rounds at 65cm. Her dressage is her weakest discipline and she's not a fan of going around in circles all the time (just goes slow!).
Loves to hunt, isn't one to hang out at the back, likes to be in the jumping group. Jumps hedges, spars & wire with my daughter.
Done nearly 3 years at Pony Club, my daughter has gone from her D to C certificates on her.
95% of the time she is a kick along pony. 5% of the time when she is either coming back into work or been on fresh grass she can be a little zoomy but always has great breaks!
Snaffle mouth in all areas, including on the hunt field, although my daughter is now big on her so if a smaller kid was riding her on the hunt field they may want to put a stronger bit in but we haven’t needed to. She is not kick along on the hunt field & does not like being at the back. Can be ridden in spurs, we use rollers on her when she is doing show hunter.
We paddock her by herself as she likes her own space, however, if she liked the pony she was paddocked with she would probably be ok but cant promise this, she definitely prefers geldings to mares!
We haven't needed a red ribbon in her tail at shows but my daughter does make sure that she doesn’t put Snics into a position where people come into her personal space, on the hunt field we pop a red ribbon in her tail just to be careful, but she has never tried anything in the two seasons we have hunted her.
Travels really well and stay away at shows happily.
OK for the farrier, bare feet and we have never shod her.
Does not like needles or drench, need to hide wormer in her feed and distract her with feed/ anything to get a needle in her to sedate her. We sedate her to clip her for the hunt season and to do her teeth, she will allow you to clipper her legs but not her body.
Note that she is not available until the first week of July 2025, after the current hunting season (hunts with the Taranaki Hunt), however, we are very focused on finding Snics the best home so happy for people to come and ride her between now and then.
Snickers is a very special Pony in our family & we are looking for another special home for her that will love her as much as we do. 5* home is a must, must be experienced with ponies.
