Are you after a dressage starter horse? Pinch is a highly experienced show/dressage pony who has helped my daughter enter the dressage arena, showing her the ropes and taking her to multiple Premier League events, National Youth Champs and HOY this season competing Graded Level 1. We’ve owned Pinch for 3 years and in that time she’s taken my daughter from a nervous beginner who couldn’t canter to one competing at the biggest shows of the season. She’s a seasoned pro and almost always ends up walking away with ribbons. She is a fantastic horse to take out, travels with ease and is settled and relaxed at shows. She also makes a fantastic lead rein pony and is currently teaching my youngest to canter on the lunge. Definitely more woah than go, her rider needs to be confident in their aids to get her moving forward. Pinch is a solid pony so, while not that tall, my daughter is 13 and just getting too big for her. On the ground, Pinch is easy to do anything with. Farrier, dental, clipping, washing can all be done without drama. Kids can easily tack her up unsupervised, lead her around. She’s a dream to handle. While dressage has been our focus, we have also done ribbon days, equitation, pony club, and hacking with her. We haven’t really jumped her and found that, if the rider isn’t confident (which my daughter isn’t), she is likely to stop. She has been in good health while with us but does have mild asthma which we have managed successfully by limiting stabling time and supplementing her with EA Ventilator (amazing stuff!).
