TWC Springbush Hunua Horse Trial

23-Mar-2016

A couple of months ago was the TWC Springbush HT which was my second pre novice start with Cash.

He went relatively well with a 63% test and then a couple of rails in the showjumping. We are still learning that with this phase, me trying to correct too much before the jump ends in rails and so does pushing TOO forward, which ends in getting flat, and again, ends in rails. I'm glad to be improving these rails from stops a few months ago (which didn't help my confidence!) but I'm still working on focusing on a forward ride but not getting flat. The XC went well and I was happy to only have one slight rider error at a skinny combination. He gave me a great feeling round the course and I was really happy with how he went, except for a slight mistake at the last jump where he clipped his shoe and managed to rip half his hoof off at the same time.  All in all it was a great second start at this level and I learnt a lot. We will be working on fitness for our next start, as well as some jumping lessons.
