Chelsea Fessler

My name is Chelsea Fessler and I'm from Nebraska, USA. I am 16 yrs old and have been riding ever since I can remember. I ride Western Pleasure and I'm totally in love with it. It is a very strick event to be in but I try my best. I have three American Quarter Horses, two are mine and one is my moms. Their names are Cola, Cinch, and Harley. They are all special in their own way and have very different characteristics compared to one another. I went through some tough times and I still do when I ride, but it's about the learning experiences you get out of each ride.

I compete in 4-H and have won in every event that I have entered in. Riding might look easy to some people, but trust me it's not as easy as it looks. I have worked my whole life to where I am at right now in my life. I would never change anything. Back in 2011 I had an accident with my horse. I was at 4-H practice and Cinch got spooked by the other horses. He charged from one side of the arena to another. I got bucked off and my leg got caught in the stirrup. I was rushed to the hospital to then find out that I had dislocated my hip three inches out of its socket. I wasn't able to ride for the rest of the summer. To this day I am still having a lot of hip problems that seem to keep getting worse. I have seen so my doctors and physical therapists it isn't even funny. They all tell me to quit riding, but I tell them that there is no way I am going to quit riding.

This year I went to both districts and state horse show with Harley. We did pretty well I was very proud of him. There is always something to improve on. There is never a perfect horse or a perfect rider it's just not possible. I say this because each judges opinion is different from each other. All through my life I have been through ups and downs, but in the end I love to ride horses and I will always. I'm not in any other sport or activity cause I feel like I don't fit in. I found that riding is what I love to do and so many other people share that love with me, we are all a family.
