Life in Polo

20-Aug-2015

Horses have been part of my life for as long as I can remember, Dad was a racing jockey and Mum was passionate about hunting. When we were old enough to walk we had our first pony, Handy Andy, it all started there! I started off doing pony club, and from there I show jumped and hunted for years until I found a passion for polo.

I have been fortunate enough to be managing a polo farm in Clevedon for the past four years where we breed, and play polo ponies at all levels, including the High Goal in New Zealand. Our ponies have had many successes along with our teams, including last year being in the New Zealand Open final for a second time, unfortunately losing by one goal! But we managed to pick up the best playing pony prize with a home bred gelding named 'Fish' who has now been bought by English high goal player Thomas Morley, who will play him in the coming years in many of the prestigious high goal tournaments in England. I still enjoying hunting in the winter when possible!
