Pony for sale

Kodiak Leap (Bear) is a full height (life cert) northland bush pony gelding. He has a kind, loving, cheeky personality and is perfect to handle on the ground with no dirt whatsoever. He is smart, has learnt many tricks (like smiling for treats!), picks up his feet for you, and will do anything for his person once he knows and trusts them. He is super easy for farrier, dentist, vet, clips and grooming, self loads and stands quietly in the float for hours (straight or angle load).

He has just placed second in the Rotorua SJ spring show Grassroots Pony Championship class (first time in an indoor arena). He is in full work and ready to go for the season with a new younger rider, as his current rider is moving on to hacks.

*showjumping - schooled to 1m, regularly competes and places in 80cm, just stepped up to 90cm at the Rotorua show with double clear. He has not been overjumped and we have taken it slowly
* Games, 1st at NISS cup and 2nd in senior pairs at regional comp
* Loves endurance rides, long hacks and the water (although not sure about big noisy waves), has good times and HR at CTRs, very nimble and surefooted hacking through bush
* Evented successfully at 65, schooling XC up to 90cm and had one start at 85cm
* Pony club - in his third season at a busy club
* Dressage up to L1, placings including 5th at NISS
* Hunts, which is the only time he really gets hot - he will follow happily over all kinds of jumps, but can be hard to bring back if the other ponies are racing away
* Regularly wins paced and mannered/pony club mount at local shows and is generally just a lovely, friendly pony to have around

He is currently shodx4, but does have good feet and is has shoes to give extra grip jumping on grass. He is used to noisy machinery, dogs, cattle etc; is happy to yard or stable at stay-away shows and keeps his easygoing calm nature everywhere. He has been paddocked with mares and geldings and is usually in the middle of the pack, the happy dude who gets on with everyone. Dials it back for the little nervous riders, but loves going for a gallop out on the farm.

Bear deserves to have his person that will love on him and continue his development as an all rounder kids pony. Comes with ALL the gear you could need. Whakatane, Bay of Plenty.
