Rascal is a quality competition pony offering scope, rideability and longevity — a genuine opportunity for a rider wanting to move up the levels on a pony with talent to burn.
Rascal was started later in life and only began jumping at 7 years old, meaning he is low mileage with plenty left in the tank. He has since competed successfully up to 1.05m show jumping and 80cm cross country, showing clear ability to continue progressing.
Show jumping is a standout strength. Rascal is athletic, careful and very scopey, with the power and technique to step up the heights with the right rider. He is fun and forward-thinking, yet remains adjustable and rideable in the ring.
This is a pony that does require a capable rider and a confident hand, but he is never dirty or nasty. He has an exceptionally kind nature and is straightforward in every respect. On the ground, he is faultless — easy to clip, shoe, float, truck and handle, with no history of lameness.
Rascal is exceptionally well travelled and unfazed by a busy atmosphere. He has been based at Nga Tawa Diocesan School for the past 18 months, thriving in busy, high-pressure environments. He is equally happy on the farm, confident around machinery, dogs and distractions, and genuinely bombproof in daily life.
He is incredibly versatile, with the temperament and brain to suit a range of competitive pathways, but his scope and enthusiasm make him particularly exciting as a show jumping pony with more to give.
This has been a much-loved family pony and an ideal partner even for a non-horsey parent — safe, reliable and fun. He is only offered for sale as our daughter is moving off ponies and onto hacks.
