Pony for sale

Arapito Kowhai is a fantastic show and dressage pony and well known in the South Island for his successes.
He is an established L3 dressage pony and has started competing at L4. His success in the saddle hunter pony ring is extensive also with him excelling in the Open and Paced & Mannered classes. He won Supreme P&M pony at the 2023 NZ Agricultural Show (Chch A&P) and Champion Saddle Hunter Pony, among many other A&P Open Champions. He has also done very well in hand with his previous owner.

Kow came 6th in the Under 138cm saddle hunter pony class and 6th in the P&M saddle hunter pony class at HOY 2024. He qualified for HOY 2025 in his first show this season.

Some of his dressage achievements include:
- 4th in the FEI World Dressage 2023 youth section
- Champion elementary pony Syncroflex Festival of Future Stars 2023
- Champion elementary pony in the South Island Dressage Champs 2023.

He travelled from Christchurch up to Taupo for the EvoEvents U25 Youth Festival and coped brilliantly with the trip and competition. He also went to HOY and the Central Districts PL in September. He is the perfect traveller and used as a travelling/stable mate for others, including racehorses. He is a regular competitor at the South Island Dressage Champs, Canterbury Dressage Champs and has attended the Marlborough Dressage Champs and Waimate Dressage Champs.

Kōwhai is a sensitive, forward moving pony with a big personality. He is quite the clown and often makes us laugh with his antics! We would love to find a passionate younger rider to be Kow’s next best friend. He wants someone who is focused on their schooling and wants to excel in dressage/showing but also wants to have fun and go on adventures. He loves to give a goodnight kiss each night so a rider who enjoys pony kisses is important too.

He loves to ride out at the forest and jump the logs or go to the beach. Kōwhai has a lovely jump on him and is very bold but we don’t want him going to a purely jumping home as this isn’t where he excels. We do, however, cross train him with the jumping and use it for fun workouts.

He travels in trucks/floats perfectly and is excellent for the farrier, vet, dentist etc.
