Horse for sale

Flying Colours Mr Mav (Maverick)
12 year old
165.5 cm Paint Gelding
By Limited Edition out of Alice

We have owned Mav for the last 5 years, purchasing him as a first hack for his rider coming off a 14.1 pony. In the time we have owned Mav he has mostly competed in show Hunter with a few days out hunting with Waikato Hunt.

Easy to handle on the ground, great to tack up, clipping, shoeing… etc We live on a farm so he is used to animals, motorbikes, tractors, diggers, stock trucks etc. We have always loved his ground manners and is great with non horsey family members who are able to do things with him.

His work over the last 5 years has been on and off at stages due the rider having multiple injuries from other sports and a period studying overseas, however he is so easy to bring back into work, we have never had any issues giving him time off. His rider normally just brings him out of the paddock and hops straight on, no lunging needed. While he hasn’t had the most work he has produced some excellent results namely:

2026 North Island Show Hunter Championships
2nd Open 1.05
2nd Open Equitation - both days
4th NI Amateur Championships over two days

2025 Horse of the Year
- 4th Junior Hunter 1m
- 6th Junior Eq
- 6th Handy Hunter 1m

2025 NI Show Hunter Champs
- 3rd NI Championship (1m)

All this while usually only being ridden at the most 4 times a week due to the riders study, work and other sporting commitments. He has not been thrashed and still has great legs in him.

Genuine reason for sale as the rider is graduating university and moving down south for work. Mav is now looking for his next rider to have fun and produce some more great results in the show ring. Excellent home is a must.
