Contemplation- Tex
A very sad sale that I know I’m going to regret of a genuine and honest all-rounder. But with a new baby, limited time and three horses in work, Tex is the easiest/nicest/sanest one to sell.
By So You Think out of a Fusaichi Pegasus mare.
Tex is an athletic, classy horse that is always admired wherever he goes. He has been slowly and carefully produced.
Tex has three outstanding free moving paces, always scores exceptionally well in dressage and has been very successful in this area. Multiple wins and placings in ungraded and graded level 1 & 2, regularly scoring over 70% and even up to 77%. Holds his own/wins against purpose bred dressage horses. Very rideable and has a fantastic work ethic- I could see him easily going up the grades.
Eventing at 95cm with placings, wins and multiple placings at 80cm including winning the South Island 3DE Eventing 80cm Championship in October. Exceptionally bold and brave, particularly with banks/water/ditches. Has never had a XC fault. A fun easy ride.
Tex is beautifully put together, an outstanding type with clean legs and moves straight. Hard to fault him on type- I actually think he would go nicely in the show ring, particularly the TB classes. Has a brilliant gallop and is unphased by atmosphere.
Always keeps a nice rhythm when jumping, no rush, pull or head in the air. I think he would be great RTR or even Showhunter.

Tex is level headed and the majority of the time pretty casual. I rode him until I was 7 months pregnant with no funny business then took him to the 3DE after 5 months off and two weeks work post baby- which he won. Can definitely have the usual TB moment and is by no means a schoolmaster but absolutely no rear, buck or bolt. Snaffle mouth all phases. Very easy to have out and about. Always the same to get on no matter how much time off he’s had off. No lunging just get on and go.
Has been hacked around the roads, forest etc. is good in company and reasonably acceptable solo. Can call out to mates when leaving them but has improved since I’ve had him.
Tex needs kept in line on the ground, no dirt but can be obnoxious and pushy at times. Would bluff anyone nervous but is all talk! He loves a smooch and a bum scratch, is always the first up to see you at the fence.
Is perfect to shoe, clip, travel, wash, plait, ties up anywhere and doesn’t pull back, not reactive to flapping things all over him etc. is a real tough gritty type of horse.
Tex would suit somebody wanting to do abit of everything and have some fun. Could be a great pony club mount for a confident teen.
Home is of utmost importance, Tex will ONLY be sold to someone who understands how to manage/feed/care/ride a big thoroughbred. He has done a fantastic job for me and this has been an extremely tough decision.
