It is time for my special boy to find a new home to teach his next rider! He is the perfect mix of a competitive horse, and a chill-laid back guy that enjoys a hack out on the farm.
Max has experience in:
Pony club – Max has been to many pony club rallies and competitions. He has done a bit of everything; including obstacle courses and hacking out on roads and forestry in a group.
Eventing – His ‘happy place’ Max loves jumping! Especially if it’s cross-country jumping. Ive never personally been too keen on cross-country, but Max has made it my favourite thing to do with him, being a fun and a very safe and sensible ride. Jumping everything safely. He has successfully evented up to 95cm and been a part of two Springston Trophies with me, as well as ESNZ events in Canterbury.
Show jumping - Max has competed up to 1.05m show jumping with me. He has taken me from 50cm to competing 1.05m and is a clever jumper who understands his job and is very enjoyable to compete.
Dressage - Max has done level 2 dressage, whilst it’s not his ‘strong point’, he can leg yield and counter canter, etc.
Safe to ride on the road, farms, forest and is used to farm machinery such as motorbikes, tractors and dogs.
Max is exceptionally great to float (self-loads) and is the farriers ‘favourite’ to shoe (is hot shod).
Max was my first hack and has taught me so much. He would be best suited to a knowledgeable home with a capable rider.
Max has a couple of quirks that are easily managed. He can throw a straight-forward buck in when he gets over-stimulated and excited. He can also get a bit anxious when he’s being asked to do something that he’s not overly sure of. Max just needs a bit of time to process what’s going on before proceeding.
This is a very sad sale, and his presence will be missed. Max is super fun all-rounder who is ready to teach his next teenager.
Max means a lot to me and will only be sold to a capable home that is a great match for him.
