Duke is a 7yr old solid 17hh gelding by Falkirk. I have had him since a 4yr old (he had 1 trial but too slow), I then got pregnant so he has been in intermittent work since due to general life with young kids. History is known from birth and everything has been done correctly and he is more than ready to go.
Beautiful movement with basics all established. Has only started jumping this winter and has been very straightforward, great technique and has never been spooky with fill or anything, pops around 80-90cm easy as and I feel he will develop very quickly up the heights with consistent work, he only gets 3 short rides a week usually here.
He is generally very quiet with no dirt however he is a very big horse with a big motor so suited for a capable rider only! I am only 5ft and while I feel fine on him, he is a lot of horse for my current happy hacker stage of life. I only have time to ride one and I have a much much smaller homebred waiting in the wings so it makes sense that Duke finds a new home where he will be utilised.
He has had outings to different arenas including Taupo NEC for the TB clinic recently. He travels well and easy as to have in the yards etc, like any young horse he can be a little tense at the start to ride if somewhere new, doesn't do anything and I have found easy to work through after a few minutes. He had only been ridden once in 2 weeks before going to Taupo and he didn't put a foot wrong, just feels like alot of horse to start with and wouldn't suit a nervous rider until he has had a few more outings at least.
I mostly ride on my own and if I am not on my own my young kids are around so he is used to all sorts of kid shennanigans, easy to travel on my angle loader float or truck on his own but also good with company, hacks happily on his own down a very busy shared farm driveway. Easy to do anything with, loves people especially kids, very low maintenance with good feet, only front shod if doing lots of hacking down gravel road otherwise barefoot, and holds weight easily.
He would be a very straightforward horse for someone to get cracking with. Very sad sale as I am quite attached to him and will keep ticking along with him but he deserves to to get utilised. Price negotiable.
