Karren and Jess Bartley
Karren Bartley (Head Instructor)
I have run my own Riding School in Murphy’s Road, Flatbush for 29 years. Having moved to the new premises at 190 Whitford Park Road which opened Jan 2010. I started off as a teacher and discovered I could blend both my love for horses and teaching into one. Hence the Bartley Riding Academy began. I competed sucessfully at Pony Club level horse trails and Showjumping. I currently still compete and I am very involved in schooling young horses. I feel my experience with riding and handling horses give me an ever increasing knowledge to pass onto my students.
Jessica Bartley (Community & Grade One Level 4 Coach)
I started off my riding career at Pony Club at the age of 6 years. I continued on gaining certificates and representing Papatoetoe Pony Club and Manukau District in Showjumping and eventing for several years. My keen interest is Showjumping and have successfully competed in many Pony Grand Prix till 2006. My biggest achievement was competing in Pony of the Year 2005. I have now joined Mum in the running of the riding school. In 2009 I gained my community Coach level 3 and Grade One Level 4 from Kyrewood Equestrian Centre in Palmerston North. I look forward to meeting you.
Bartley Riding Academy
We also take pride in teaching good basic skills to give all riders the best possible start to their riding, whether it be for pleasure riding or competition. This involves giving pupils skills in dressage, jumping and the very important safety aspect needed to ride horses in any situation.
To join the Riding Academy you need no previous riding skills or horse interaction. We provide the situation and the opportunity to start your journey in becoming a confident rider.
